Interventionists: Available?

If you meet an interventionist at a bar where he is hanging out with other interventionists that doesn’t mean he’s not good at his job. Chances are he’s very good at his job but still has a cocktail like everyone else. If you two hit it off and he’s available why not go out on a date with him. If he seems to criticize you and your drinking on the date that may be a red flag a lot of times people in those positions don’t know how to turn off the help button.

Intervention TV: Turn Off The TV

If you are a family that has the TV on in every room and your school has told you that your child has an intervention TV problem you might want to try and turn off some of the TVs you’ve got going and do something else with your child like read a book, or play a game or go to the park. You might want to ask them help you make dinner or tell you about their day. Even have them write a TV show about their day and see if this helps at all.

Family Intervention: Try To Keep It Calm

A family intervention more than any other intervention can get out of control. It’s true. Families have baggage. They know how to get under each other’s skin and push each other’s buttons in a way that no one else knows how. It can be totally painful to watch how families can destroy each other and enjoy it.  That’s why during an intervention it’s important to have an interventionist present. They are there to keep the peace with the family.
