For a doctor who helps so many people confront their addictions in drug or alcohol rehab, what is really behind Dr. Drew’s past? Many celeb gossip sites have dug up some dirt on the good doctor. This brings up allegations that Dr. Drew was a cocaine addict in the 1980’s. Just because everyone was doing coke, doesn’t make it ok. My question is if and how Dr. Drew will address this speculation.

Ok, so doing lines with interns off records is a bit much. Granted it was the 80’s, when drug use and treatment wasn’t taken very seriously… Do you think this would change Dr. Drew’s image if he acknowledged these rumors? Nowadays, I’d like to think that people are more open-minded about professionals in the recovery field. Even popular host, Ken Seeley is openly noted for being a former meth addict. Anyways, the goal is to help people (celebrities or not) in need. Executive drug rehab is ideal as it’s tailored to the celebrity lifestyle.

Regardless of Dr. Drew’s past, it’s good to see his advocacy for drug treatment and a raised awareness about different types of addiction. It’s eye-opening to see what these celebs, and so-called celebs go through. Sober living homes are a hot topic of discussion as Vh1’s next prospective show is to focus on sober living. The premise of this show is to follow up in the celebs and even designate leaders who are supposed to help the rest. Not sure if this is overkill for recovery on TV but at least they’re passing on a good message.
