Addiction Center Gone Wrong
For nearly two decades, Dr. Drew Pinksy has been affiliated with the Pasadena-based, Aurora Las Encinas Hospital … that is, until this weekend. Dr. Drew confirmed that he is cutting ties with the addiction center after recent events. This hospital was touted as luxury care center with the best amenities. But, the highly publicized center has come under fire after some patients have escaped and committed suicide. As recent as 2008, a 14-year old patient was raped by another patient as the hospital staff were asleep.

What to Expect at an Addiction Treatment Center
When you choose an addiction treatment center, you expect it to be a safe haven of healing. But, many patients and their families were surprised to see differently. Many critics have attacked Dr. Drew for endorsing the Pasadena Hospital if it did not meet his standards. Although Dr. Drew led the chemical dependency unit there, it was confusing when he did not want to be closely associated claiming that he “was not involved in patient-care lapses reported at that time.”

Things Are Going Downhill for this Rehab Center
In 2008, three patients died under the care of the rehab center within 5 months. The hospital came under investigation and is now at risk of losing federal financial support. If it makes any difference, the hospital was supposed to specialize in psychiatric care, meaning that they should prepare to handle very troubled patients. As Dr. Drew removes his stamp of approval, potential patients will hopefully think twice before choosing this hospital.
