In the 70’s, Leif Garrett was a teen idol who was known for acting and singing. In his adult years, trouble times plagued Garrett as he coped with fame. He later became notorious for his troubles with drugs and alcohol. In an incident in 1979, Garrett was driving under the influence as he rear ended another car. This accident left his close friend Roland Winkler, confined to a wheelchair for life. Their reunion was documented in a 1999 episode of Vh1’s Behind the Music. Mirroring his 2006 crime, Garrett was arrested again for possession of heroin. Both times, he was caught at the subway station near downtown Los Angeles.
